Jake™ is a new concept: half robot, half vehicle, all soldier. It enables a new philosophy. Much of its power is counter-intuitive as it allows a softer footprint amongst civilians and new ways of supporting, amplifying and protecting our troops on patrol.
In all of this, the Jake is quite simply a tool to our soldiers’ innovation. This opens growth opportunities in capabilities of networked swarming of soldier-interactive robotics and surgical application of firepower, while utilizing its more diplomatic face in “winning hearts and minds”.
Our young Soldiers and Marines are techno-savvy and creative. With an open path to develop new equipment, unbiased by process, committee dynamics, and political and corporate interests, they will use this powerful catalyst in developing ways to accomplish the tough jobs we are presently asking of them.
As a former Commandant of the US Marine Corps and leader in maneuver warfare, said of the Jake: “This is innovative, but when these get in the hands of our young Corporals and Sergeants, they will think of a 100 things you have not thought of”.
This is exactly the reason for Operation American Agility, to open up the power of America. It is to give these young soldiers a transforming piece of equipment and the freedom for tactical and systems-teamed innovation with proven leaders from wide ranging backgrounds, something that presently there is no other structure to do (we should remember that much of our military acquisition and development commands are not designed for this and must remain within a disciplined process to logistically support a war on many fronts).
To support Jake’s development, a solid team from across America is in place, with military leaders and defense companies positioned to provide and integrate a broad cross-section of amazing, and now mature, technologies.
Operation American Agility focuses on how America gets things done when they need to be done fast, with proven team dynamics for the greatest speed and innovation. Listen to a cross section of Americans on this site as they speak on what this means to our Soldiers and Marines and how, together, we can use the Jake as the catalyst for much larger action, and thus do the impossible.
